Illustration Friday - Linked

This week I've been busier than any week I've had since becoming an illustrator but I had to take a little time out for IF this week because the word is perfect for a little commentary on student loans and the way they keep recent grads from having the freedom to pursue their future goals. The same goals that were the reason for going to college in the first place.....maybe I'm just bitter haha.

I'm just finishing my degree in graphic design and this picture is the perfect representation of how I'm feeling. Way to go!

Thanks everyone for your comments. I wish for your sake you couldn't relate to my financial aid problems but it's good to know I'm not crazy for feeling this way.

Nice, I don't have the financial aid problems, but I'm definitely feeling like finishing my degree is a big anchor holding me back from "the real world"! Very cool idea and art!

Nice, fluid line work. Education seems to be indeed ridiculously expensive in the US.

Thanks everyone for so many nice comments. Hopefully the cost of education will one day go down so students don't have to be so in debt.

Funny take on the word linked. Your color selection is great as well as your illustration style. You get a "10" in my book! Nice work.

Thanks for visiting my blog.

Clever boy , could also be a commentary on how having such an educated President can weigh him down when it comes to appealing the 'regular guy' .

Though given the choice after the previous administrations folly, I'd take the smarter guy any day ;-)

Nice one.

Thanks Deborah, I give all your work a 10.

Thanks Dominic, I'll take Obama over the Bush/Cheney monster too. I just wish Obama would get even tougher with those like Sallie Mae and Blue Cross who totally corrupt capitalism.

With two kids in college, this illo is going to give me nightmares.

It's bad enough that "You gotta pay to play", but it adds insult to injury that we have to pay to work too! Great work Alex!

alex fine illustration said...

Sorry Larry, hopefully this illustration wont apply to your kids. I'm the only artist in my family and the only one with debt. I'm a total cliche haha.

Thanks Della, I totally agree.
