Ray Lewis sketch from late last night.

The Ravens made the playoffs and Baltimore finally have a reason to get excited again! I'm working on a series of Ravens drawings to raise some funds. If you know anyone who might want to buy portraits of Ravens players I'll be selling the originals and prints at my etsy store soon.

The scan was a little strange on this but the original is smoother with higher contrast.

Chris Hill Illustration for Urbanite Magazine

This is an illustration for an article about a religious man's journey through doubting his faith and ending up with stronger religious convictions. I'm not religious myself but it's interesting to read about other who are.

Big Crunch

If you ever played at The Ottobar you probably met Brooks and we probably made you sound great. He also fixes and sets up amps and guitars. You'll do well to give him business because he'll get your equipment sounding perfect.

Peter "Sleazy" Christopher for City Paper

Industrial pioneer Peter Christopher from the band Throbbing Gristle. It will be in tomorrow's City Paper next to an interview with DJs putting on a Cold Music night in Baltimore. The night is dedicated to Christopher so I decided to draw a portrait in his honor since he recently passed away.

Dweezil in Philly

Alphabet Bombers quick cover for itunes.

This is for out first album that's about to go on Itunes. I didn't like the fist cover I drew 8 years ago so this is a more up to date cover. I still want to add something to the middle but this is just to get something up right away.

Zappa Sketch

I'll be posting the final Dweezil Zappa Plays Zappa poster soon.

How Mitch McConnell Threatened to Steal Christmas...

Here's an early morning cartoon in regards to Mitch McConnell employing the Two Santa Clause theory in this recent "compromise." Jude Wanniski would be proud of Mitch.

J Roddy Walston Poster

This is a poster I just designed for my friends in J Roddy Walston and the Business. I was basing it on the song "Brave Man's Death" from their new cd while incorporating somewhat of the cliche New Years theme. In the past we've worked with Native American concepts and I hope this isn't mistaken for the trend of hipsters wearing headdresses and all that stuff. I wanted to draw a more respectful scene. I hope it worked.

Parting Gifts part 2

I drew this up while waiting for feedback on some other jobs that I hope to post soon. A lot of the work I've been doing lately is still waiting to be published but once the issues come out I'll post them right away. Until then, here's the second half of the Parting Gifts poster set I'll be selling.

Psychobilly!!!

Here's a quick poster I drew yesterday afternoon when I realized this show was coming up soon. It's my old psychobilly band The Alphabet Bombers opening for Koffin Kats at the Sidebar. I really miss this band but this should be a fun show. I also couldn't pass up this concept. Sorry Kiss, I still love your music!

Cake at Mann Center

This is a pretty quick poster for Jon Hampton at AEG Live. We worked together earlier this summer for the poster series at The Mann and this is an extra for the Cake show this Wednesday. Jon's great to work with and gives me a lot of freedom with the direction of each poster. This concept was my first instinct so I ran with it, I hope you all like it.

The top illustration is about a Satanic band call The Devil's Blood. The bottom illustration is about a campaign for Sheriff in Baltimore turning ugly.

Zappa Poster..might be done....

Barring any last minute changes, here is the poster I'll be making a large edition of to sell at the show. If you're in Baltimore please come out to this and buy an affordably priced print. I'll save about 50 for non Baltimore people.

Also there's a giant guitar in the middle because it's sponsored by Gibson....product placement...maybe I can get a Melody Maker out of it....I'll keep dreaming.

J Roddy Walston T Shirt Design

Check out their newest single Brave Man's Death. It's pretty damn good and that's no surprise. These guys have been my favorite Baltimore band for years and that's even if I didn't do their art.

Furthur Poster

Here's a super low res poster I recently illustrated for The Mann Center and AEG Live. Thanks Jon and Jen for another fun job. Like the series of posters I recently created this one will be handed out for free at the 2 concerts this weekend. After the shows I'll repost a higher res version.

Biggest Poster Job To Date!

Jon Hampton at AEG Live contacted me a while back with the idea to illustrate and design a set of 7 posters for upcoming concerts the were presenting at the Mann Center in Philadelphia. At first the posters were to all line up and connect one show at a time but the idea changed last week to make them all be able to connect to one another in any combination. This forced me to make the posters a little less dynamic but I'm still happy with them. I ended up with only 2 days to redraw and ink them all.

Check out the original sketch at the bottom to see what might have been. I might still finalize the original sketch later this summer when I have more time...just for fun. These posters will be given out for free at each show so be sure to grab one if you find yourself at any of these concerts. 6,000 will be printed for each show!

*I removed the larger images until after the shows are done but I'll add the low res colored versions after each show.

Very quick City Paper cover out today

Here's the original I sent and the printed version with all the type. It was a same day turnaround job and I'm not totally happy with the Uncle Sam but I think it turned out ok.

UFC Twitter Madness!

Some work I did for UFC Magazine. It was all about how fighters are using Twitter to promote in new ways. Brant Louck was an awesome art director to work with and pushed me to make the eagle into the blood thirsty vision you see before you. If you're at a bookstore or newstand check it out this month. Here's a full page illustration and some smaller ones.

Here we go...

This is one week worth of jobs not including a couple others that won't be out for a while. I also just found out that the UFC Magazine I did some work for last month is out on the stands so I'll be posting those tomorrow too.

2 cover variations for Philly Weekly as well as an inside illustration to head up the article on terrorist David Headly who planned the Mumbai bombings in 2008. His mom actually started the Khyber, a pretty well known Philadelphia venue. I'm going to add the final cover as well as a link to the article as soon as it's available online.
