Not invited to the Tea Party...

This is a cover illustration for this week's Philadelphia Weekly. Jonathan Valania from Phawker.com gives his account of what he saw and heard when he sat it on a recent Tea Party meeting. If you're in Philly definitely check it out. I'm also including an alternate illustration I drew before the final image.

That's Great, Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer, sounds like a fun night out.

Thanks Larry, the article was definitely a good insight into the minds of the tea party crowd.

Nice piece , shame that those negative creeps seem to have some real political clout.

Thanks Dominic, it is a shame. Though I won't say all Tea Party people are bad, I have come across many that let their anger cloud their judgement.

Hi Alex, thanks for your comment on my blog. I am very familiar with your work as well. Great stuff! I don't think I ever saw the image used in your blog header, and I really dig it. Also, sorry this comment has nothing to do with this particular post :) Using the glasses-and-nose disguise is always a successful image!

Enjoy the Day,
Chris

Didn't mean to be overly cynical , but these same guys gave GWB 8 yrs to screw things up and after only a year in power they're giving Obama such a hard time.

Give the guy a break, he cleaning up some else's mess.

Thanks Chris. The header illustration was for an article on useless antidepressants. It's always fun drawing brains:)

I agree Dominic, I actually said the same thing on the PW website to the Tea Party protesters responding to the article. I asked them where have they been for the last 8 years when Bush was imposing big government on the country. No one had a good response. The fact is that if they weren't complaining about the spending and healthcare, they would have found something else because the GOP and Tea Party will do anything to stand in Obama's way right now. It's a sad state that the country is in. These people aren't patriotic they just can't accept that there are other people in the country besides christian right wing conservatives. That being said, I don't think every conservative is a bad person, just the people who can't accept other views.

Hm, the Pasadena Weekly logo looks exactly the same as the Philadelphia Weekly logo.

Good work. Your drawing skills are solid.

Thanks Frank,
I just checked out Pasadena Weekly. That is the exact same logo. I wonder if they have the same publisher.
