Dolly for Washington Post Express

I was recently contacted by art director Adam Griffiths to illustrate a full page portrait of Dolly Parton for the Washington Post Express. This is the first illustration I've done specifically for them and the experience was great. I've been fortunate lately with some really fun jobs and this one was no exception. Adam gave me a lot of freedom to go nuts with the hair. I'm also posting some alternate versions along with the 2 original sketches.

Oh what fun! She looks fantastic. You really captured her! I also like the one with the guitar. Great job!

Thanks Marcos! I love Dolly too and this was more fun than I could have imagined. As long as inking hair is involved I'm sold : )

BTW I'm not sure if I said so earlier but the illustration you did of the flying monkeys and Dorothy was incredible!

Great piece, you must have had a 'hairgasm' doing this one ;-)
